Pepper Anne Banyan

Biography

After being raised on a farm in East Tennessee and graduating from high school with twenty-nine other students, I entered the University of Tennessee. There I met my husband, who obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering. He decided to pursue the space race and accepted employment in Southern California. I stayed behind and finished a bachelor's degree in Home Economics. He worked a year in aerospace and flew back to East Tennessee to marry and return to the San Fernando Valley with me. I received a contract from the Los Angeles Unified School District, where I remained for thirty-three years. During my career, I obtained a Master's Degree in Home Economics and Counseling and Guidance. A minor in Humanities and Speech was added to complement those degrees. After retirement we returned to our roots in East Tennessee, where we custom built our house and celebrated our fiftieth wedding anniversary.
