Portia is balancing beweeen her social life, school, love of horses and serious issues at home. She shows humor and sensitivity. Both her determination to succeed and her love of family make this a must read for young people. The author, Jayne Haines, has captured her persona in an endearing way. I am looking forward to reading more of Portia's adventures. A wonderful book!
