Regina Russell

Biography

After my children were grown, I finally went to college and majored in creative writing. Now, I have the time to weave the stories I've always wanted to tell and the life experience to make my characters real.
I've published three novels, one novelette, a book of short stories, a book of poems and a children's book. All of these are available in paperback and as ebooks. I have published a couple of small books of short stories too that are only available as ebooks.
Writing is a lot like balancing on a tight-rope. Lean away from your center and you fall. I know my work is centered on the perspective that comes from having faith in God and the way He created the heaven and the Earth and what He purposes for mankind. Without being preachy, I lock onto a foundation that I believe gives me insight into the how's and why's of this world.
I do not desire to write books that titilate but I do believe in romance. I also love the idea of mysteries that ring true in the end when secrets are exposed and I work hard to develop books that will give the reader some surprises. My books do not contain cursing either but to maintain a truer sounding account of some conversations, I will resort to putting a blank just to show a curse word was used by the character. Those blanks can be brushed over; the reader gets the idea and it's all done without planting vulgarity in the mind of the reader.
It's important to me to leave a legacy of books behind that I would be proud for my children and family to read.
You can obtain a free sample of my writing here on Smashwords. I offer "Threads of Regret," as a free download. It's approximately 60 pages long and is the prequel to "Lovely Strings," a 400 page novel that contains mystery, romance and the story of seven women stranded in a cabin in the Appalachian woods.
I'd love to welcome you to my website too which contains free chapters of my novels, a blog I keep and a contact page where you can leave a comment.
Happy Reading!
