This is the kind of narratives I personally like: short and meaningful. It makes us reflect on how well we accept the technology born with us, but how difficult it is for us to understand advancements of 1000 years. I also appreciated the cleaver use of the term "black box", which in science/engineering represents a system that can be viewed in terms of its input/output without any knowledge of its internal workings. I completely recommend this. Worth one (or multiple) read(s). I'm looking forward to more like this.

I cannot agree with Jonathan when he criticizes the "ending". Indeed, I think this is not a story with a beginning and an ending. It's more like a picture that is described further and further (like in poems). A narrative that explains why it would be so difficult to perceive and understand a distant future. An impression made in few words, as Michael said.
