Christine Anne Cole

Biography

Christine Anne Cole’s working life as a Librarian was varied. Although she spent time in conventional lending libraries, it was mainly within the media – provincial newspapers and the BBC - where she learned to manage staff and resources for customers researching a multimedia environment, under the discipline of working to “deadline”. She joined the industry at a time of technological change and helped co-found a new professional association to deal with the digital issues of the day.

A graduate of the University of Kent at Canterbury, she was also the Information Manager for the British Council based in Rome, organising the Council’s information programme throughout Italy and instigating “outreach” conferences and meetings. Her close collaboration with The British Library was enhanced through managing the Agency’s Document Supply to its many Italian customers.

Throughout her media career, Christine published articles and interviews in national and county magazines as a licensed freelance writer.

Christine lives in a small village in Northamptonshire with her husband, David. She has two married daughters, both professionally committed in their own fields, and five grandchildren.
