Holly Dae is a recent college grad with a B.A. in English who, instead of putting on a suit to work at a desk 9-5 for five figures and a lifetime of misery and crushed dreams, decided to write YA novels about the taboos concerning contemporary issues like rape, abortion, drugs, teen pregnancy, and sometimes sex with the hopes that someone will pat her on the back and say she touched their life.

Okay. So I downloaded this because I was little bored and thought hey, I'll give it a try. To be honest, it started a little slow for me story wise and I got a little impatient as I was trying to figure out who Holden was and what exactly Olivia was and why she could enter people's dreams. But surprisingly it didn't make me want to put the book down or skip to the end in frustration. It's a difficult balance to maintain, but this writer maintained the balance between giving us enough information and withholding it just well enough that I kept reading.
I have to admit, sometimes Olivia's voice sounded more like a teenager than an adult so I was a little surprised that she was as old as she was even though she had an adult life. And Holden confused me at first. I thought the jump between having to kill Olivia and then wanting to protect her instead was a little fast and out of character. It reminded me of Twilight a little, but I came to accept it.
I have to admit, I was worried about if Holden and Olivia's relationship would go too fast when I read how soon their first kiss came, but again, the writer didn't go in the traditional direction typical of that kind of romance either. All in all, good book. I think I would enjoy more.
