- Vampires Rule
on June 07, 2011
Vampires Rule took me by surprise. I was not expecting this book to have the awesome story line that it did. K.C.Blake has written a winner with this series. Jack’s character is terrific. He's a human turned vampire, then back to human again, who says you don't get a second chase at life. Jack's second chance comes with a beautiful werewolf hunter whose name is Silver. They are destined to be together, in order to kill the first werewolf and save the human race. But that same destiny has a plan for Jack and Silver's love life, which Jack's ex vampire girlfriend, Summer, isn't too happy about. I fell in love with Jack. Jack is seventeen, handsome, and has a down-to-earth attitude. His great sense of humor had me laughing the whole time as I read this book. Silver is also seventeen, strong-willed, and a take-charge girl that can kick some serious werewolf butt. The romance between these two has lots of laughs, a few tears, but is definitely hot. Jack has a younger brother Billy, who now is his older brother. This is a funny situation that they find themselves in. Vampires Rule has fantastic romance, humor, action, and I enjoyed reading this book from Jack's POV. Especially with his humor. The second book in this series is Werewolf Rule. I'll be putting it on my to-read-list. I definitely recommend Vampires Rule as a must read!!

Earth pulled me right in from the beginning with its mystery and “who did it” feel. And then it kept me anxiously flipping pages till the end to find out. I kept saying no, no; please don't let it be who I think it is! But what also had me going were the three Elementals. Shayna is the leader of this threesome. She is one seriously tough girl that’s going to do whatever it takes to protect her town and classmates from the evil that has come to her peaceful town of Ojai. Jodi and Steven are her two Elementals friends, helping Shayna fight the evil just as soon as they figure who it is. These two are great. Steven with his make-up kit and Jodi with her boss attitude. They are true friends in the fight against evil. Shayna is all business, so when the new boy comes to school, she doesn't make it easy for him. I felt so sorry for Jensen. No matter how hard he tried, he could never get it right with Shayna. But Shayna does like Jensen, so I'm waiting to see where their relationship goes in the next book. Jensen is awesome, he’s gorgeous and a good guy. I would've liked to have seen more of him in this story, but I'm hoping he’ll get more screen time in the next book. Earth has a fantastic storyline—mystery, magic, elementals, action, and kick-butt teenagers. I was glued to the pages. I highly recommend Earth as definite must read!!!
- Reborn (A Goddess of Night Novella: Book One)
on June 19, 2011
Reborn is an amazing novella. It’s strong and deep story line including vampires, half-vampires, half-witches, and witches, is very unique. It all starts with a forbidden love between Nathaniel, who is half-vampire and half-witch, and Claire, a full witch. They’re trying to hide from Samuel Charleston—the Leader of the High Council of Witches. After Claire gives birth to Lily, Nathaniel takes her to live with Claire's sister, Trudy, for protection against Samuel who wants to kill Nathaniel and Claire. Trudy raises Lily, and on her eighteenth birthday, Lily comes into her full power. Soon Lily will be a Goddess of Night, because of her vampire/witch heritage. Lily discovers the truth about her parents and teams up with two vampires, Drew and Xander, and also Roxy, a witch, to find their parents that High Council also has imprison. A romance begins between Xander and Lily, and also Drew and Roxy. I wish there was more of a romantic theme for these two couples, but I can see that the author wants their relationships to develop slowly, so I'm okay with waiting for the next story to see where she takes it. I will say at beginning of this story, I got a little overwhelmed with all the characters and backstory. But I’m so glad I kept reading because it’s fantastic how Ley Mesina pulls it all together. I will definitely be waiting impatiently for the next book in this series, but I ask for one favor, more romance! lol Got to have my romance fix. I highly recommend Reborn! It is an amazing story!!

Crushed is the second book I’ve read by author K.C. Blake, and I’ve come to love her writing. She puts just the right amount or humor, drama, and action in, with a beautiful paranormal storyline and strong plot. Breathtaking romances. Yes, have to have romance. I enjoy and love each of her characters. She gives them so much personality and each one is clear in their own identity. They pull me right into the story. I also love the way K.C. writes from the guy and girl POV. This always makes for a deeper romance. K.C. Blake is an Awesome writer!
Crushed is a game that Kristen and her two sister's Brittany and Cyndi—who are witch's—play on the guys at Titan High. But this school year Kristen is tired of always being the good girl for her parents, teachers, and sisters. She decides to be a little dangerous for once and danger is what Kristen gets when she picks Zach—the gorgeous bad boy—to play the crush game on. Zach has few dark secrets of his own. Zach, the bad boy has a game for Kristen, the good girl, and so the game begins with these two, and believe me, it does. Kristen and Zach are terrific together, they had me rooting for them and the romance was swoon heaven. But like all games, they have to end, and for Kristen and Zach they now face the game of real life and their love will have to be strong enough to make the ultimate sacrifice for each other. Crushed is definitely a winner, I recommend Crushed as A must read!
- The Legacy of Kilkenny
on Aug. 21, 2011
The Legacy of Kilkenny is a fantastic read. Devyn Dawson has created one amazing urban- fantasy world. The storyline is strong and fresh, with different werewolf packs, vampires, dream walkers, and seers—and that's just the tip of this awesome adventure. The characters are well-developed and full of personality. This is the first book I’ve read where the main boy and girl characters were not in love with each other, but it works. Dawson did beautifully with Pru already being in love with Oakley. I didn't dislike Pru for not returning Abel’s feelings, and you will see why (no spoilers).
Abel is a terrific guy. He’s funny, sincerer, and so loveable. When Abel sees Pru, he knows trouble just walked into his English class. He’s so right, Pru is on a mission to get Abel trained and ready for his destiny. Abel is to become The Great Wolf, and rule over all the werewolf packs. Not bad for a teenage boy who still has his mom take him to school lol. Pru is a beautiful werewolf princess. Her father is the alpha male, so Pru will become an alpha female. It’s her mission to tell Abel he's the The Great Wolf that all the werewolves have been waiting for him to join the packs.
Oakley is a gorgeous guy and werewolf. He’s part of Pru's fathers pack, and also Pru's bodyguard. He helps Pru train Abel for his destiny. Pru and Oakley’s romance is hot. Oakley is hot! :) He’s one lean, mean, sexy werewolf, and I can't wait to see more of him in the next book. But I also want to see more of Parker. He’s a rogue werewolf that’s joined up with Pru's pack and he's the cool mysterious type. I'm definitely wanting to know what this gorgeous werewolf is all about. The hard part is I’m going to have to wait for the next book, but in Parker’s case, it’s well worth the wait. He's yummy ;) Now for Arien. He' the sexy bad boy vampire. I know I'm not supposed to love him, but I do, and Pru’s having a hard time with this herself. Arien’s so sexy and bad till he’s mm mm-good. But he is the enemy. Dawson has built a magnificent urban-fantasy world and amazing characters in The Legacy Series. I highly recommend The Legacy of Kilkenny as a must read.
- Bone Dressing
on Nov. 24, 2011
Bone Dressing is a fantastic mind trip. Michelle I. Brooks’ writing is totally amazing. The way Brooks took me into the dark mind of this seventeen-year-old girl was creepy awesome. I felt like I was holding my breath reading Bone Dressing, and just when I thought Brooks would let me come up for air, she wouldn't let me do it no . . . no. Not yet. Brooks did give me a lot of fun in Bone Dressing. Along with the dark side, I found myself laughing. I love sarcasm, and Sydney’s character was full of it. Syd’s mouth just wouldn't stop. You think okay, that’s all she can possibly have. But no, Syd just kept it rolling out. I loved it. Michelle Brooks has definitely created a fantastically creepy novel with Syd, whose mind delves into the dark side, and who takes on the sadistic evil of the bone dressing world she lives in.
Syd is one bad-ass girl. She hasn’t had a pretty life and it’s not going to get any prettier when she meets Beau, Sarah, and T.J. Matter-of-fact, it just becomes a whole lot darker. But she starts to understand who she is (or was) and her fight in this dark, sadistic world of hers. That fight will involve a very evil, sick person who has taken Syd's life and everything she loves. Beau will become her balance, and I can't wait to see how all this comes together with Syd and Beau in the next books.
Beau is made for Syd. He can take all Syd's sarcasm and keep on standing, and even dish a little of it back.
I love Beau's character. He's cocky, yet strong. Syd can lean on him, and he’s definitely strong enough to hold her. But it’s Beau's eyes that pull you deep into him. Beau still has a little bit of a mystery to him, and I'm going to have to wait find out all his deep, dark secrets in the next books, but I have the feeling I'm going to love every one of them.
Bone Dressing is one dark and intriguing look into the mind of Syd's wickedly evil world and her fight for her own life and the ones she loves. I highly recommend Bone Dressing as one awesome, sadistic, and addictive read.
