What’s worse than starting from scratch?
Starting again from scratch.
When graduating from college, someone handed me my degree and I entered a yearlong graduation program as the start of my employment. There was an orientation, training, resources and people to hold my hand while I learned ropes.
When my business suddenly graduated me into the millionaire’s club a few years later, there was no program, no orientation, and no one to show me the ropes of being a millionaire. Perhaps it was because I’d grown up poor and didn’t’ know any wealthy people to learn from or ask advice. Maybe I was too arrogant to seek them out.
Well, nothing kills arrogance more than going broke and starting again from scratch.
But by 35 I’d made it back up to 7 digits again through real-estate, only to then throw it all away on the dreams of others and gold exchange-traded funds. I was now 38, bankrupt and battle-weary.
