Williamson is one of the best Scottish short story writers alive today. Many of these short stories feel as if they are coloured prisms that have been placed before our mundane reality and they are infused with a sense of strangeness that will remain with the reader for days. Personal favourites? 'Softly Under Glass', 'Harrowfield', 'The Happy Gang'... but if I keep on going I will end up listing most of them. There isn't a poor story here.
