Le Beau Soliel is a fun and sexy slice-of-life in the pre-Civil War South.
All the ladies are infatuated with suave gambler Frankie Deramus. But he has eyes for none of them: His first and foremost love is his riverboat, Le Beau Soleil. His other love is playing the field of men he meets in his travels on his boat.
In this story he employs Michael Murphy, a Mexican war veteran and confidential agent, to find out who is spreading unsavory rumors that Frankie is a card cheat.
Murphy works to uncover the identity of the rat, and in the process he and Frankie become more than friends. Together they prove that whether at cards or at love, Frankie doesn't cheat. He doesn't have to. He's that good.
Rich in description and dialog, Le Beau Soleil transport you to the opulent world of the Mississippi riverboat at its peak. Very highly recommended.
