JoAnn Bassett grew up in Seattle but always preferred palm trees to pine trees. She owned a business and raised a son, but always dreamed of making a day at the beach an everyday event. In 1996, she and her husband bought a home in Maui and that dream became a reality. She now lives in Southern Arizona, but still enjoys writing about the islands--the everyday people, the beautiful land, and the intriguing language.
