I’m Kris Emery, once freelance transcriber and editor, now founder of KXE Communications. And most recently, author of Feel The Fear And Freelance Anyway!
I was born, raised and educated in Buckinghamshire, UK, finishing my Masters in Translation and Linguistics in 2007. After three years learning the ropes as a staff writer in London, I took the plunge into freelancing, with a mixture of elated success and horrendous, embarrassing failure. I now live in Christchurch, NZ, happily writing away and training others to do a great job of freelancing.
I love helping other women earn their own money in a free and flexible way through transcribing and editing. I know how to do this, but I learned the hard way. Now I know what to do and definitely what not to do, I’m here to share. Freedom and flexibility in your freelance lifestyle is the aim, ladies!
How do I enjoy my freedom and flexibility? Exploring the stunning South Island of New Zealand, dipping my toe back into something called a social life as bars and restaurants open in Christchurch after the February 2011 earthquake, making the most of local Canterbury food by visiting farmers markets and cooking wonderful new dishes, and trying to embrace the Kiwi enthusiasm for the outdoors. Working on this last one!
