Kate Kelly has had a life-long love affair with books, but writing came in fits and starts. She didn’t take it seriously until her forties. Now she can’t get along without it. She has the good fortune to still live on the east coast of Canada with her husband (the children have flown away). She writes, grow herbs and perennials and sails when the wind blows her way.

  • What She Doesn't Know on Feb. 04, 2012

I’ve been a fan of Lina Gardiner’s writing for years and have been waiting for her next book. What She Doesn’t Know was well worth the wait. Once I started reading this book I didn’t want to stop. I thought I knew what was going to happen, but I didn’t come close. Gardiner built in so many plot twists I finally gave up trying to second-guess her and sat back and enjoyed the ride. We have a heroine who has amnesia, a hero who’s been in love with the heroine for years, but must lead her into a danger to discover the hidden treasure he’s pledged to find. There’s family secrets, a mystical isle in the Bay of Fundy, modern day pirates and the lure of the Knights Templar legend. But most of all Gardiner gives us a touching love story of two people falling in love for a second time. A wonderful, riveting story. Definitely a 5 star!
  • Ready or Not on March 20, 2012

Carol Schede is the queen of anticipation. Ready Or Not is a fun romp through the intricacies of a romance set in the south. Tennessee, to be precise. The heroine, Ginger Lee, does her southern sisters proud, not only with her `big' hair, but also the way she wraps her poor unsuspecting neighbor and lifelong friend, Sam Pepper, around her elegant finger. Then torments him until he's on his knees. I love the-girl-next-door stories and, hands down, this one is the best I've read for a long while. Great humor and heartfelt passion.
  • Her Best Worst Mistake on May 09, 2012

Reading Sarah Mayberry’s Her Best Worst Mistake made me fall in love with romance books all over again. It’s the perfect romance novel. There’s wonderful Tension (that’s right, capital T) between the hero and heroine on page one and it doesn’t let up until the very end. I honestly didn’t believe Mayberry could resolve their differences in a believable way, but she does, and she does it beautifully. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for Mayberry’s next novel.
  • Unknown Assailant on July 01, 2014

I had such a great time reading Unknown Assailant. It has everything I love in a story. The book is fast-paced, has a great love story, and I can guarantee the ending will surprise you. Lina Gardiner knows how to plot a novel with twists and turns that keep you guessing until the last page. I wonder what she’ll come up with next.
