  • Ghost from the Past - Paranormal Mystery Novella on Jan. 10, 2013

3.5 stars I was given a digital copy of this book from LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review. I do not know the author. All opinions expressed are my own. This is a paranormal book about a woman, Catherine, who is a sensitive - but not to just any spirits, murdered ones. She is a real estate agent and her boyfriend is a homicide detective. She helps her boyfriend, Jake, solve murders. The one in particular happened several years before and was a double homicide. It's a short, enjoyable read that held my interest all the way through. Even with being a short story, the characters are developed, likable, and believable.
  • Ghost Lovers - Paranormal Mystery Novella on Jan. 10, 2013

I was given a digital copy of this book from LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review. I do not know the author. All opinions expressed are my own. This is the second novella in this series. Catherine is a sensitive to murdered ghosts. Catherine, a real estate agent, and her boyfriend, Jake, a homicide detective team up again to solve another murder. Of course, Catherine's good friend, Camilla is also in this story and helps Catherine & Jake. This time, instead of being two ghosts that were killed on prom night, it's a ghost, Jason, stuck in a house that Catherine is trying to sell. Together Catherine, Jake and Camilla work to solve the mystery and help Jason. I like that the stories are short. Even so, the characters are developed enough to bring the reader into the story believably. This story of ghosts is not like all the other ghost stories and that makes it very enjoyable.
  • The Soul Ripper (Twisted Souls #1) on Jan. 10, 2013

I was given a digital copy of this book from LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review. I do not know the author. All opinions expressed are completely my own. This book has a very interesting storyline. All babies are born soulless. Souls are generated at the soul fountain. They are given out in a kind of lottery form. If a person is lucky enough to receive a soul, they had better be a very good person and follow all the rules or it can be taken back. People without souls, for the most part are just downright ugly - grey skin, red eyes, etc. Women are required to stop working after marriage. Pregnancy must be granted to couples with souls by permission only. The race is regulated because of the lack of souls. See? It's a great concept! The book is very enjoyable. Similar to Blood Rites by Jim Butcher, I found myself wanting to find out what happens next and not wanting to put the book down even for breaks. The characters as well as the backstory or "rules" are very well developed. I recommend this book to anyone who likes paranormal, post apocalyptic, fantasy, sci-fi type books.
