Kristen Portillo is a 38 year old mom to two girls. Quirky, sarcastic, & preferring her animals over most people, she spends her free time writing her books and playing with her children. She lives in Vancouver (not British Columbia) where she derives most of the setting inspiration for her novels.

  ... I highly recommend this book for 10-13 year olds. It is light hearted, and an easy read with a good plot. The characters are relatable and lovable and Dale creates just enough mystery and just enough suspense soaked in a fantasy world that avid readers will quickly become engrossed and newbie readers will find a reason to love books.   To say that Dale Cusack has A GIFT for story telling, action scenes, funny character dialogue and tying all loose strings together when everything is said and done would be a dire understatement.   Vultar's Heart and Soul Mate by Beth Wright is the most unique short story I have EVER read. Elizabeth is an average eighteen year old girl who is suddenly taken from our world as we know it and wakes up in a dungeon in another world. This is where she meets Vultar, her soul mate. Vultar takes her to his world where they fall in love ... but life is not without danger, including other species wanting to take Elizabeth - or Satiana as Vultar called her - as their own. This short story within the genre of young adult paranormal romance is filled with creatures fresh and intriguing, straight from Beth's mind. Their world, while similar to the human world, is quite obviously not the human world. I love the creatures, the descriptions, the newness and originality of everything that Beth describes. I love the interaction between Satiana and Vultar and was left wanting their passionate kiss to turn into something more. Beth definitely has an original voice and supremely original ideas. With the second part of Vultar's Heart and Soul Mate soon to be released, I am anxious to see what will come next!   As the editor of Vultar's Heart and Soul Mate I actually feel like a part of this book. There is something about talking in depth with an author about their creation that puts you so deep into the book. I feel connected. I love Vultar. He is so sexy and the kind of man I think most women wish they had and then there is his Setiana whose human innocence of his world makes the passion and love between them that more intense. I am fully enthralled with this series and so very much look forward to delving into the third part of the story. I am so excited for Beth to write it and regardless of how many parts she constructs I cannot wait for them all to come together and make one superior work of art that no longer consists of fantastic short stories but becomes a full fledged 5 star novel. Congrats Beth! I love your work and your writing!

  I finished the book in less than three hours and NOT because of its short length but because of its captivating voice. Told from the perspective of an only child, 9 year old LA Payton, growing up with her mother and step-father in the Pacific Northwest, I was instantly drawn to the simple and innocent views that are common yet so endearing among children nearing their teenage years.
