Laurie Wagner Buyer
Laurie Wagner Buyer was born in 1954 to USAF parents in Edinburgh, Scotland, and spent her young years moving from place to place around the world. In 1975 she came West from Chicago, Illinois, as a mail-order companion for a mountain man living in a wilderness area of northern Montana. Eight years later she went to work on the O Bar Y Ranch on the Green River in Wyoming for rancher Mick Buyer.
In 1988 Mick and Laurie moved to the South Fork of the South Platte River in the high country of Colorado. They married in 1989 and spent the next fifteen years running cows together on the DM Ranch. During that time Laurie wrote for many agricultural and ranching magazines, including Beef, The Fence Post, Farm and Ranch Living, Horse and Horseman, Horse and Rider, Cow Country, Wyoming Stockman-Farmer, The Backwoodsman, Roundup Magazine, Cowboy Magazine, American Cowboy, and Western Horseman. Her poems were also published in fifteen anthologies.
She attended many cowboy poetry gatherings in the Rocky Mountain West and appeared seven times at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada. The poems in this collection stem from that era.

A Collection of Ranch Verse -- "Laurie Wagner Buyer's poetry varies some from the more traditional cowboy poets who favor folklore and storytelling. Laurie's work is based on personal experience. It's all about the connection between each person and the land and the people around her. That is what poetry is to Laurie, a landscape of life on the land..." Mona Neeley, Colorado Country Life
