Born in Yorkshire, England, Max served for over twenty years in the Royal Navy and then lived and worked in many countries as an Engineering Manager and then as a Christian Missionary.
Although much of his other writing is based on his strong Christian beliefs, it is in the Mr B stories that his humour and insights into the often-bizarre aspects of life shine forth. He says that Mr B is not based on an actual character but his wife, Sheila, sometimes has cause to question that.
The first in the Mr Bunsponge (Mr B) series. In this episode Mr B’s day begins when a policeman rings the doorbell. He unwittingly asks for Mr B's help, who is delighted to spend his day ‘helping’ the police. The inevitable disastrous and chaotic results that follow leave an indelible mark on the whole of the local police force.
Once again Mr Bunsponge (Mr B) brings his own virtual reality into a situation. Attending the annual Rambler’s Association meeting seems simple enough, but when he walks into the wrong meeting where he is mistaken for a psychiatrist, confusion abounds. That is confusion for everyone except Mr ‘B’, who sails through in his usual unflappable manner and wonders what all the fuss is about.
