Smashwords Interview

What motivated you to become an indie author?
I don't have a preference for Indie over say commercial, but I like the control Indie authors have over the final product. But really, Winter Haven is not really the type of book that gets published commercially these days. In today's YA Market, the books are raunchy and generally lack charm. They are written as "fads." I don't like fads, so in a sense, Winter Haven is perfect for the Indie market, because it's written as a genuine, heartfelt novel, not as a "trendy" novel.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords was my very first venture into publishing ever. It's been a learning process and a challenge I welcome. I made my first buck from my first ever published stories via Smashwords, and learned the ropes of "running my own business" via Smashwords, so Smashwords is very important to my success. Nothing beats seeing your book in the different online venues that smashword distributes it to.
