J. Michael Radcliffe

Biography

An avid reader of fantasy and science fiction novels all of my life, I live with my family in the rural hills of Kentucky along with our four cats. When not acquiring ferocious felines for my wife's plan of world domination (cat armies are terribly hard to train), I enjoy spinning stories from the wisps of magic around me.

'Haunted' by Maria Savva is the chilling story of a man's descent into madness. A dark and emotional tale, it follows Nigel Price as he tries to outrun the demons of his past. It shows how one fleeting moment can change the course of a life. As Nigel struggles to forget what happened that dark and rainy night, his mind won't let him escape. Ms. Savva does an exceptional job of showing Nigel's interactions with those around him, and how those relationships begin to fray and deteriorate, until he is left seemingly alone - except for one person. It is this last remaining relationship, this final twist, that leaves the reader wondering, was it really all just in Nigel's mind, or was this vengeance from beyond the grave? This was a dark and emotional read - and not normally a genre I frequent - but this was exceedingly well done. I give this novel five stars, and would gladly recommend to others.
