Maureen A. Miller

Biography

Maureen's illustrious writing career began in the fourth grade with the blockbuster hit, Super Watermelon Man. Many years later, she evolved into a full-fledged Romantic Suspense author with her first novel, WIDOW'S TALE, which was nominated for a Golden Heart by the Romance Writers of America. A fan of the old Gothic romances, Maureen enjoys the formula of danger, romance, dark cliffs, and sinister houses. All these elements can be found in her romantic thriller, ENDLESS NIGHT. Maureen has now branched out into the Young Adult genre with her Science Fiction Romance, BEYOND.

Smashwords Interview

What inspired the BEYOND series?
Truth be told...it was because I had a crush on Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica when I was a wee young one. Oh yes, all the practical young females liked the single father, Apollo. But no, Starbuck and his reckless space adventures (and damn good looks) fascinated me. He fascinated me so much that I carried the three-ring spiral notebook with his face on the cover through school. Too much information, right? I used to daydream that he would take me from my back yard in his Colonial Viper and whisk me away into outer space, where I too could go on those reckless adventures.

Funny thing about those childhood daydreams...sometimes they stick with you. Even when you get to be as old as me! So I thought, heck, I'm an author now. I have the power to make that daydream actually happen.

And so, Aimee Patterson walked into the woods one day, and returned five years later with a tale she could never share....
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I started out as an indie author with my Golden Heart-nominated Romantic Suspense, WIDOW'S TALE. I was later published for the next romantic thriller, ENDLESS NIGHT. I made many friends in the indie world, and coming back there was like coming home.
