A great short story full of high drama, especially if you like the theater.

A rocking story with a setting I have never seen done before -- the action packed location is on the flight deck of a US Navy aircraft carrier. The main character is a common man but a true hero. This one get's five stars for sure.
  • Introit- Black Dog on July 30, 2015

Written with a sort of gothic flair, set in seedy bars and dark rooms in bad neighborhoods, this supernatural detective tale reeks of double-crosses and creepy characters. I, for one, look forward to the next installment.

Thank you. I found this book of poems to be exciting and sad and happy all at once. I'll be reading more of these.

Are you considering trying to make it as an indie author? If so this is a great place to start. It seems there is a lot more to it than writing great stories and novels or non-fiction. In addition to writing the indie author must spend many hours marketing on line and in person. It seems that with all the social networks and on-line groups it might just be possible to build up a following of fans. I also get the impression that one must pick an area in which to write (a niche if you will) and stick to it. This books makes a case for working in a particular area and building a community around yourself through marketing your online presence. It's less likely to work for you if you just write whatever pops into your head. Rather, you should make yourself an expert in a specific area weather it's horror, crime, business, project management, history, military hardware, self-help, time management or whatever. Seems an indie author has to pick a specialty and become the online master of that universe. Very interesting approach that I had not considered.

I've had this on my Kindle for over a year and have read it three times. This story is as American an Forth of July. It's on a Navy ship. The main character is a Navy Chief who faces an explosive situation. He just wants to retire after years in the Navy, but he has to protect the crew and lead a crash team. There are bombs and rockets, flammable fuel, jet engines all around. The action is fast but somehow the author dials you in to each character with a few strokes of his pen. Another nice aspect of the writing is the dialog, which is on spot, snappy and to the point. There is even a love interest because the main character wants to get back to the states to be with his wife. All I wanted was to find out how it ended the first time I read it. The other times I read this story, I savored the descriptions and the details. Well done, Malcolm Torres.
