Some people say that space opera and hard SF are mutually exclusive and generally they are right - this series shows in a spectacular way that there are still cases, fortunately, that might prove them wrong. It is not just quite plausible futuristic technology but also very believable political background, dynamics of colonization and secret service activity that make it so fun to read. Interesting multidimensional characters are improving this even further. And finally war... war that perhaps never changes but its potential to surprise is yet astounding. Robert A. Heinlein is one of my heroes of the past - it is nice to see he can still be inspirational. I am eagerly waiting to see how The Human Reach will evolve.
