Honestly, when I downloaded this book, I didn't have high expectations for it. I don't usually read Sci-Fi books. Still, the amazing book cover and well written summary were enough to have me give it a try. We get a few lines of a normal night in Minnesota, where the little things are off. The weather is off. The noise is off. We meet our main character. The noise becomes more off. And that's where the story kicks off brilliantly. We're suddenly sucked into a fast paced story of aliens who act more human than we usually do, a story that makes our heart speed up, and a story that makes us dread every page turn because things just keep getting worse for our characters--yet, we keep turning the page because we hope that our characters can get through it all. So, all in all, this was a great read and I would recommend it to...basically everyone!

Sadly, I would not recommend. There's too much direct characterization here, a lot of action without feeling, and misused adverbs (the main character's grandmother was 'daringly' asleep). The main character's plight is bland, barely addressed, and quickly resolved (I am thirsty. Everyone is asleep. I drank a cup of water). From the summary, I thought that there would be more sensory detail for this adventure (no matter how small) and I was severely disappointed.

I was looking for cheesy romance, and the summary promised it. I was so excited when I realized that this was only the first book of a trilogy. Three books of cheesy romantic goodness? It sounds too good to be true. It was too good to be true. I downloaded the app and couldn't stand the stiff dialogue, the love interest who seems pervy with every word or action, the bad formatting, and the obviously unedited scenes. An alien just learning the languages and customs of the human race would have done better than this. All in all, I would not recommend.

This book is a fast paced dystopian thriller detailing out a parallel world that we can all connect to, and one that is all too real. I highly recommend!
