Patricia Lichen

Biography

I am an honest-to-goodness pirate, having boarded a whaling ship while I worked for Greenpeace; I chained myself to the harpoon gun to prevent it from being fired, and was arrested for piracy. I have also worked as a naturalist at Mount Saint Helens and in the Columbia River Gorge, and authored The Uncommon Field Guides--essays on plant and animal species of the Pacific Northwest ("Passionate Slugs & Hollywood Frogs"; River-Walking Songbirds & Singing Coyotes"; and "Brittle Stars & Mudbugs."
