Don Mance

Don Mance was born in Albany, New York. He served in the United States Air Force from 1988-1992, in the Netherlands and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan during the end of the Cold War. Shortly after leaving the Air Force in 1992, Don gave his life to Jesus Christ. He has preached in several churches in the Albany area and also done a short term mission to the Dominican Republic. A unique set of circumstances immediately following September 11, 2001 thrust him into a role of spiritual leadership at work. It was this experience that compelled him to write God at Work: Sharing Christ on the Job. Don's latest book, The Great Exchange, is an overview of the spiritual dynamics that result from a decision to live for Christ. Don's wife Mandi is originally from Glasgow, Scotland. They frequently travel there together. Don's other interests include advocacy for veterans' issues and for animals.

Smashwords Interview

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Every day is a fresh start with a clean slate. God makes each day new and full of promise and opportunity. He has wonderful things for us if we will just keep an open mind and maintain the right attitude. If we miss it, He gives us another day tomorrow that is new and full of opportunity. We all have gifts and talents that we must share on a daily basis.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My first book, God at Work: Sharing Christ on the Job, was for the church. My latest book, The Great Exchange is for those who are curious about the Christian life or are searching, but are not necessarily yet believers in Jesus Christ. I wanted to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a way that was easy for the reader to understand and not wrapped up in religious language. I lived in the Netherlands for 2 years when I served in the US Air Force, and I recently had The Great Exchange translated completely into Dutch. De Grote Uitwesseling is a small gift to the Dutch people for their kindness and hospitality to me and so many other Americans while we were stationed there from World War II through the Cold War.

Christianity is not a spectator sport. It is not simply praying a nice little prayer and going merrily along. God is calling His disciples to make "The Great Exchange" that each may experience the abundant and full life He offers.

This book was written to shatter the myth that one must enter traditional full-time ministry in the church to impact the world for Jesus Christ. A book to assist you in sharing your faith with your co-workers.
