I go by many monikers: Wife to Nathan, Mom to David, Redeemed to God, Almighty Author of My Existence to my books' characters.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I prefer reading on a Kindle. I also have the Kindle app on the tablet, phone, and computer, but I love my Kindle Touch.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I have always loved writing. Since I was in fifth grade, I have wanted to be a writer. When I finally had a story that I felt comfortable publishing, I knew it would not be well-received by the traditional publishing acquisition editors. "Karis," while Christian, has some story elements that do not appeal to the traditional Christian market and the Christian elements would not sit well with a secular publishing house. Since I was unwilling to remove either element, independent publishing was the way to go.
Right before deciding to go indie, I attended a writer's conference, where even publishers were beginning to encourage authors to try independent publishing, gain a following, and then try and market their books, so my mind was made up. Having been an independent author for three years now, however, I have no desire to go traditional.
