Robert Alter

Biography

Robert Mark Alter was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts and grew up in Newton. He went to Cornell University. He is a husband, father, grandfather, psychotherapist, marriage counselor, English teacher, big Boston sports fan, and writer. He has also been a hockey referee.

For inspiration he draws upon Henry David Thoreau, Bob Dylan, Lenny Bruce, Mahatma Gandhi, Bob Cousy, Bobby Orr, Jack and Sylvia Alter, the Siddha meditation masters, Winston Churchill, St. Thèrése of Lisieux, Bette Midler, and his wife Jane.

Robert and Jane have been a happily married man and woman for 42 years.

In addition to Sex with a Married Woman, Robert is the author of three other books.
