Robert L. Munkres, Ph.D.

Biography

Robert L. Munkres is a native of Nebraska’s North
Platte Valley. He spent his high school and college summers working in the hay fields for his father, who was both a banker and a rancher.
Professor Munkres received his B.A. with highest distinction from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1952, then earned an M.A. (1954) and Ph.D. (1956) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. A well-published author, he taught courses in political science and history for more than forty years.
During the summers of 1956, 1957, and 1958, he was a seasonal Ranger-Historian with the National Park Service at Fort Laramie National Historic Site. He retired from full-time teaching in 1999, but continues to research and write from his home in Colorado.
