Robert Ng

I grew up in Liverpool, in a large and loving family. We aways have been a close family arranging get togethers on a frequent basis. It was on one of those meetings that the basis of my book was spawned. We were discussing our father, and discovered that we all knew different things about him. but none of us had the full picture. Sandi one of my sisters (I have five and one brother) came up with a brilliant idea. She suggested that we all write a bit about ourselves and collate it together in a family book to pass onto future generations. I started and because I'd experienced a really exciting youth in the Merchant Navy could not stop. I soon realised I had the makings of an early biography.

I think writing a biography helps to explore your past in detail. Research brings to the fore memories forgotten. Expressing those memories seems to lift a burden, and its very satisfying sharing a bit of history of the way things were with the reader. Research also means discussing years gone by with people of the same era, Its amazing how little snippets and facts, open a whole new doorway to your own memories.
