Roger Stoner
Biography
Roger Stoner's column, "Roger's Remarks" was published for fifteen and one-half years in the Peterson Patriot, a small-town newspaper. The column broached subjects ranging from serious editorials to humorous observations, the most popular of which were inspired by the ordinary, day-to-day experiences of life as a married man.
Life with My Wife: The Memoir of an Imperfect Man, is a selection of fifty columns from the 846 that were published between July 1, 1989 and December 31, 2004. They appear here as they were written, before being edited for publication in a family newspaper.
He has worked as a farm hand, carpet cleaner, grain elevator employee, a factory machinist, columnist and newspaper publisher. Each endeavor provided experiences and insights which contributed to his burgeoning writing career. His short stories have been published in the anthologies Knee High by the Fourth of July and True Cow Tales, and he's had magazine articles published in Fishing & Hunting Iowa and Successful Farming. His current work, Horse Woman's Child, a full-length historical novel, is nearly finished.
Roger and his wife, Jane, live in Peterson, Iowa, where they live a simple life, enjoying their six grandchildren and keeping each other on their toes.
