The cover photo for this book is a little off-putting for western sensibilities. But perhaps that is the point. This is not a book about the west. It is more what has happened to Africa since the white man found its riches and exploited its people. Here is a writer with a keen understanding of what it means to be African, or indeed Biafran. The subjects include the callous treatment of women, the raping of Africa, its politics, even the worship of God. This is an angry young man tempered by the balm of reason. I especially liked the poems Published, Excreta, and Shaved. A very enjoyable read.
