Smashwords book reviews by Sarah Thomson

  • To Stand Beside Her on May 19, 2013

I was provided with an ARC for an honest review so here it is. When I first signed up to provide the review I wasnt all that sure that I had made a good decision but wanted to give it a go, more for the fact I was told it wasn't your perfect happy ever after. It just didn't sound like it would be my kind of book. (even though I read pretty much anything) So ending first - my first reaction when I finished the book was to jump in the shower and bawl my eyes out then immediately pick the book back up and reread it to enjoy it all over again! It is not a horrible ending, it is as I heard described - bittersweet. Please do not be turned off by the thought of a bad ending. It was fast paced, and with the perfect amount of action in it. I absolutely loved the book, the story and the characters just drew me in. Leila is fiesty and tough and I loved her to pieces. Nalick the apparently awful king who has a sweet side but is keeping a secret from leila. The author kept me guessing and wondering the whole way through and I struggled to guess what this secret was. I love it whan an author is gifted enough to keep me guessing. She created this whole world for me and I was right there the whole way through. I absolutely loved this book and would recommend it to readers of any age. I look forward to reading more from this author as she has a true gift with the written word and plenty of imagination. Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this book, it is one I will definately reread - hence the 5 stars!!!

LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!! I would just like to thank the author  1- for giving me the book to review 2- For writing this book in the first place. I was keen to read this after reading To Stand Beside Her and fell in love with the way the author creates a story and she didn't fail with this book either - i was captivated and entranced throughout the book. It carried a perfect balance of everything  that the author introduced to the story. It takes a talented writer to absorb me into the story and thats exactly what happened.  With chapter one she had my intrigued By chapter 2 I was getting excited thinking 'what on earth?' (I hadn't read the blurb, I went into this book blind) Bu the end of chapter 3 I couldn't put it down. I loved that it was a different from the usual books with vampires etc and was filled with a suspense and drama that had me eagerly turning page after page. I would highly recommend everyone to read this book! I know I will be telling all my friends to read it!

  • A Moment on May 26, 2013

“Moment: The dictionary defines a moment as a minute portion or point of time. But for me, it’s more. I see a moment the way a scientist does… the product of quantity (as a force) and the distance to a particular axis or point. A moment is that indefinable period in your life that only makes sense when you look back and you realize you made the right choice. I didn’t know it then, but I made the right choice and I’d do it all over again. This is my moment… Liliana Delgado” I want to begin this review by saying that i felt every moment in this book. The love, the anguish, the fear. The author tackles 2 serious issues that society still views as taboo topics. The ones that no one wants to talk about or acknowledge. She couldn't have done it better. I was so drawn in by the characters in this book. Each facing their own problems, problems that were not either glossed over or over the top. I felt for them both during this journey, I cried and laughed along with them. This book got under my skin (in a good way). I absolutely loved this book, the style of writing and the storyline. The author wasn't afraid to introduce some big issues, not only with Ryan bit Lili had a few of her own that she faced also. I would recommend to anyone to buy this book and read it. I can't waitbto read more from this author. I was provided this book by the author for an honest review and I want to thank her - this is one of those books that you can't just walk away from - it will stay with me for a while.
  • Becoming a Legend on June 07, 2013

Ok i want to begin by saying how excited I was to get my copy of the second book in this series. I am addicted to this authors books and her style of writing - she is truly gifted and i am happy to say she didn't disappoint with this latest book. It was a perfect follow on to 'the legend of the blue eyes' and more than I could have wished for. She has a gift of creating characters and worlds that can draw me as a reader fully into - which is something that is very difficult for me. Her characters are so easy to connect with and I feel their emotions, when I read one of her books I am a part of it and I don't want it to end. The right amount of emotion, suspense and action this book is what anyone could hope for and is one of, if not the best paranormal/supernatural books that I have read! I recommend these books to all book lovers out there, i am already hanging out for the next installment! These are books that I could easily read more than once, and I will. I would like to thank the author for giving me all that I could hope for out of a book.
  • The White Aura on July 28, 2013

Damn - the author knows how to weave a good story! I had a couple of problems with the book one- the term Mr Sexy started getting to me after a while (but that is really neither here nor there), two, it was a slow and sappy start to the book. When I began I wasn't sure if i would really enjoy it, however as the book progressed i couldn't read it quick enough. It got really good. There was a lot of little things that could have been included like background on sorcerers and what not and I am hoping it will all become clearer in the second book. It is a very easy read however I loved it and i cannot wait to read the second book.

Well bk has done it again! Once again she has delivered another compelling novel about her night humans! I have loved this trilogy and this author has fast become one of my very favorites! I knew I was going to be sad to see this trilogy end and I was but at the same time I wasn't! The story was wrapped up so beautifully. I have loved meeting all bk's characters and this book didn't fail with the introduction of new ones! I am in awe of the imagination that this author has and I look forward to reading every book this author produces - especially her next one about Devin!!!!! Bk thank you for taking me on this journey and I do hope one day I see these 3 books turned into movies! They are amazing as is the author who wrote them!!!
