Stelios Serras

Biography

Human behavior has been a mystery to me, ever since I was a kid. I remember myself trying so hard to understand those grownups and their contradictory behavior. Spoken words rarely matched their actions, and vice versa. Like body and mind were out of synch…

I couldn’t understand how my parents could seem so loving and caring to each other and moments later, they could easily kill each other, arguing like worst enemies. That was very frustrating, but also intriguing, so I started observing people. One thing became clear to me, that involuntary actions reflect our thoughts and feelings, while spoken words may say differently…

So, what should I believe in? Then Psychology came to lighten those dark areas of ignorance. I started reading books. Human nature and human behavior were mysteries waiting to be explored. When I gained knowledge, I started writing my personal essays about psychological issues and some core aspects of human behavior. Extensive self-help studies changed my perspective and my perception of life and human capabilities. That beautiful journey led me to wonderful paths beyond anything I could ever imagine.

It requires understanding your inner self first, for being able to understand others… That’s the right way, the only way for becoming a better human. Knowledge is only useful when applied, not when stacked on library shelves. What started out of frustration and curiosity became a hobby and then habit. The habit has become a passion, often crossing boundaries with obsession. Regardless of the academic paths followed, writing and drawing became second nature, a growing urge for creativity and expression, needed to be fulfilled anyhow.

You have to start reading before you get to writing… Reading is a noble pursuit, one essential to acquire coveted knowledge. That’s why reading is a lifetime evergreen asset I’ll never stop investing in. Reading, writing, studying, drawing, made me a collection of various book manuscripts and drawings that might be published someday. So, don’t be surprised if my next book is a novel, a children’s book or an artistic collection…
