Shelby Nicole was born in McMinnville, Oregon in 1984. Writing has been Shelby's passion since the age of seven, when she began creating amazing and elaborate tales of adventure, often involving children and animals. When Shelby was in 6th grade, she discovered the works of Hayao Miyazaki, whose stories and art continue to have an important and enduring influence on her writing.
After attending elementary through high school in and around the Portland area, Shelby moved to southern California to study film and animation. A Northwest girl at heart, she returned to Portland in 2006 and began work on what would become her first novel: Izefia's Fall.
Izefia's Fall hit the shelves in 2010 and has been enthusiastically received by teens and adults who enjoy far- reaching ideas, adventure and humor.
Shelby has recently moved to the Oregon coast in order to immerse herself in the setting of her latest project; Nocturne, a supernatural thriller set in in the small, scenic coastal town of Astoria.
Shelby is an accomplished tap dancer, animal lover and artist who enjoys good, healthy food and the company of good friends and family.
