Steve and Sue met at a dance in 1970. Both came from a working class background, lived in the Leicester area and worked in different departments of the Civil Service. With so much in common it was easy to get on, and they married three years later in 1973. They now have a grown up family of two sons, a daughter-in-law and two young granddaughters.

They both love reading a good book, especially crime novels, and enjoy days out which often involve visiting a steam railway. It is only since Sue’s retirement that they have been publishing Steve’s recently written short stories. Steve is the brains behind the stories with their interesting plot-lines but Sue’s admin experience means she has the job of typing up hand-written script and preparing it and the front cover for entering onto the Smashwords website.

Having successfully published Steve’s first four tales, when a friend asked if they could help with publishing his own much longer story, they were happy to agree. They have gone on to publish a variety of books including poetry and children’s stories, with more of Steve’s short stories coming soon.

Here is another of my personal Top 20’s of singles that never reached a UK chart position higher than No 20. As in the previous volumes, facts about these selections are given as well as personal experiences and observations.

The black Eve is the real Eve: the mitochondrial Eve: she who is the mother of us all, no matter our race or creed. Apart from paying homage to her, these poems manifest other paradoxes of religion, evolution and humanity. They reflect the modern thinking person who, whilst having read all the evidence against traditional religion, would still ‘like to see his Mum again.’
