  • Shattering Zoella's Demons on Dec. 21, 2012

What do you expect from this book? Well, I've been reading it and here is the lowdown. Music. Zoe or Zoella, plays the violin, or cello for a living and she's pretty good at it. She's engaged to hot Rockstar Robbie McClaire. I have a running crush on him right now. Their lives are pretty awesome, a dream if you ask me, but that's just it. Zoe's life isn't a dream. She has a past that is pretty scary and she hasn't told her husband to be about it. When it comes knocking, she splits and jilts rockstar at altar. **shocking**!! I was very angry with her at this point. To stop spoilers, I will hold there, but I will say that this is different from the angsty types of plots I read in romance novels. Zoe struggles with a difficult past that pretty sucks, and the idea of Robbie finding out has her cringing more than anything. Zoe has a lot of insecurities, and her vulnerability can be damaging to those around her. As for her the rest of the cast, I thought Elly K captured a pretty good idea of what marriage can be and what suspicions, anger, and old money can do to people trying to stay married. I would have loved to see a few glimpses of Zoe's music career, out of her breaking down moments. Otherwise, it's a pretty good read. If you can't tell from the long review here, I had a good time reading this.
  • Crush on Dec. 27, 2012

When I first started reading Crush, it took me back for a moment. Jamie's story is so tragic, and on an emotional level, I found it was difficult to take in the realities of Jamie's young life. Add on Tam and his harsh realities, and for a while I couldn't continue on without feeling like crying. Their story however could not leave me alone. I came back for more, and what unfolds is a love story that spans a lifetime for Jamie and Tam. These two men survive through some pretty tough experiences. Each situation they face defining their very characteristics and the decisions they make. Jamie's strength, his kind heart, his self judgement, and how he responds to Tam is greatly defined by what he has lived through. Tam's overwhelming love and empathy. I thought the writer created these two characters with a lot of thought, love and reality. The word Crush is fitting to the entire plot. There are a lot of events that would break any individual. That Tam and Jamie got through them and remained so strong is inspiring. There is a lot of research that has gone into the book and for that I rate the book a 4 out of 5 stars.
  • Not His Kiss to Take on Feb. 08, 2013

I love this novel! I just spent an entire afternoon reading it and it was amazing. Evan is a complex, real doctor with so many issues, he's so delicious. Jaime survives an attack that would break most anyone, and finds himself in Dr. Smoky hot's world. Their intricate romance was so well written, I'm still reeling from reading it. I was breathless reading Jamie fight his conflicting emotions as he was pulled into Evan's world. Marlowe weaves such a web, cocooning Evan and Jamie in their own world, completely making the world disappear until it's only natural for Jamie to fall for Evan and Evan to fall for Jamie. At a point through this plot, Evan had me gasping in shock when he finally truly can't hold back his need and attraction to Jamie. Then there was the hot, incredible fight through the night when Jamie finally gives in to the decadent call of desire. I was fully drawn in by then and I have to say, Evan and Jamie are smoking hot. Marlowe creates two characters who are deeply flawed, insanely hurt by the world and betrayed by those they love. In time, they are both clinging to each other, hoping the other might see beyond the scars, beyond the walls, and I have to say, the ending made my heart sing with joy. I had an insanely great time reading this book, I rate it (5 stars) for making day.
  • Perfect Drug on Feb. 10, 2013

David and Sam are a cute pair. The story is short and sweet, and there is a lot happening at one go. For a fast romance read, it's pretty good, and the ending is quite surprising.
