Scott Simpson
Biography
Scott Simpson was hired as the Director of Golf for Sun City West in 2004 to oversee the operations of the community's seven golf courses. He was named Golf Operations and Marketing Manager shortly thereafter. He was elected to the Arizona Golf Association's Board of Governors in 2006.
Desiring to get back to the mountains, he was hired in December of 2010 as the General Manager of The Laramie Country Club in Wyoming.
He began his career in the public sector and worked 21 years for the Colorado Springs Parks and Recreation Department. In a statewide study of the golf industry in 1991, the University of Colorado's School of Business found that two courses under his direction were the #1 and #7 most played courses in Colorado.
In 1995, he accepted a position as Director of Operations with Premier Golf International. He was a featured speaker on golf course management at the National Parks and Recreation Association annual convention in 1996. In 1997 he founded his own golf course management and consulting firm, Sunlinx, Inc.
Not to be confused with the Tour player sharing the same name, he was recognized in June of 2009 as one of twenty of the "Most Admired Golf Course Operators" in the world by Golf Inc. Magazine. He had been nominated by the Arizona Golf Association.
Presently writing part-time, the ebook version of Behind the #$%*& Green is the 2nd edition of his first fictional work about the golf business. He usually just makes up stories about his own golf game. He lives in not-so-quiet desperation with four judgmental parrots, two freeloading dogs, one useless cat and a bipolar putter.
