Biography

The picture is from my 2008 visit to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. I was among 50 Korean War veterans invited to speak before the cadets at a forum on the Korean War.
Since the 1960's, when I first worked as a Design Engineer/Quality Engineer/Technical writer at Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center, I have produced words for people to use, in specifications, procedures and manuals.

With Smashwords now available as an open portal, where the only cost of publishing is your labor, I no longer have any justifiable excuses to not get on with my contribution to the written word.
Ago And Other Poems was my first published effort as a freelance author; followed by The Art of Losing At The Game of Chess, Romeo & Juliet-The Coolest Lovers, and Hip Hamlet-A New Look At an Old Character.

On August 8, 2011, I republished Whispers From My Heart,a book of poetry, articles, and essays, with the latter half of the 183-page book consisting of over 120 pieces of humor rescued from the Internet.

Today, I published a book on practical politics, A Citizens Manual for Amending the U.S. Constitution, which was completed on July 4, 2012.

Also in work are two stage plays, One Hour With Dad, and Not Exactly.

Please stay tuned. Back to work.

In the opinion of some scholars, Hamlet was really created by William Shakespeare as an autobiographical character, a person who could never make up his mind, liked to make gassy speeches to no one in particular, and was fond of sticking his sword through curtains in case anyone was trying to steal one of his plays that he never wrote anyway. Come with me awhile to see him from a different view.
Romeo and Juliet -The Coolest Lovers Of Them All    by George Enice Lawhon
Price: $0.99 USD. 4020 words. Published on February 16, 2009. Nonfiction.

This attempt to color a well-known play by Shakespeare with humor, was given a treatment that while different, still does not mask the terrible beauty of a tale well told of tragedy and wasted love and life, sponsored by that unfortunate and all-too common attribute of humanity, tribal strife. Some beautiful text, such as in the balcony scene, and expressed so well, remain pretty much as written.
The Art Of Losing At The Game of Chess    by George Enice Lawhon
Price: $0.99 USD. 1460 words. Published on February 14, 2009. Essay.

Numerous books and articles have been written concerning the art of winning at the game of chess. Their singular lack of success in accomplishing this purpose, and the author’s own observations and experience lead to the simple revelation that a fresh approach is needed to the game of chess, and a new skill developed more in keeping with a chess player’s natural inclinations and habits.
