S.D. Stevens

Biography

I love reading, whether it's historical, horror, romance, supernatural or suspense, I get totally absorbed. I enjoy a wide variety of authors from Stephen King and James Herbert to indie authors such as: Nicky Charles, Jan Gordon, Candace Carrabus and S C Stephens.

I've lots of other interest such as; amateur photography, which I'm not very good at, walking with my dogs and I am a member of the English Heritage and like to visit historical sights. I love steampunk and enjoy creating costumes and attending events. I run a small dressmaking and homemade gift business with my daughter. To keep fit I doing burlesque dancing twice a week. I am religious but I reserve the right not to divulge and I give others the same respect. I find people interesting, how they believe tells a lot about them but I do not judge.

I HATE soap operas. I mean really hate them; Coronation farm and Emmadale square; to me watching those is a waste of valuable reading or writing time. I do watch TV, I love things like CSI, NCIS, Game of Thrones, True Blood, Vampire Diaries, Arrow, Sharpe, Startrek, Supernatural and Charmed, I think you get the drift, anything supernatural and sify. My daughters and I go together to see all the latest horror movies at the cinema.

I've been writing for years but never plucked up the courage to get my work published. It took me a long time to find an outlet for all the stuff that goes off in my head and then to show it to people. Most have said it is good and want to read more but lets face it, I've only shown my work to family and close friends. As much as I love them and how they have encouraged me, the biggy is what will happen once I publish something? Once it's out there? That is scary, don't you think?

My writing is mostly about a magical world called Alhanassa. It came into existence after reading countless historical novels and being troubled by how society treated girls and women. What would it be like if the roles were reversed? A world governed by Queens, Priestess, governesses. Alhanassa is such a place where women rule and magic is a part of everyday life.

If you choose to download something of mine, THANK YOU just for even considering it. I nervously sit, metaphorically twiddling my thumbs. (I will be either reading or writing).

Smashwords Interview

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Life, love, family and a pay-check at the end of the month. I am an optimist but also a realist. I love life but I have problems just like everyone does. I choose not to dwell on the bad and live for the good. I am religious and I am blessed with the ability to see God's hand in the miracles of life that happen every day.
What do your fans mean to you?
Without my fans there would be no point in writing! It gives me a great buzz to know that someone likes my world or has fallen in love with one of my characters. I love to listen to fans, I've got a couple of good ideas from them too. I'm still quite unknown and new to all this publishing stuff but the fans I do have are awesome!!!

I love to hear from readers so don't be afraid to email me add me to your social media pages <3 <3

forgot to click the stars lol
  • The Keeping on March 24, 2012

The keeping was the first book I red in the series and I must admit Im glad I did it that way. I was as blind as Mel, until I got to the bit where Ryne lets the readers know what he, Bryan and Daniel are. At first I thought 'great not a werewolf book' but was already hooked. Think this one has to be my favourite, but that could be because I see a lot of what makes Ryne and Mel work is what makes me and my hubby work too....
  • The Finding on March 24, 2012

Another great book, I got a bit frustrated with Cassie in this one, so well done Nicky. Will we ever know if Daniel gets Tessa?
  • Betrayed: Book Two - The Road to Redemption on May 01, 2014

Just when we think its safe to step away from 'The Law of the Lycans' Nicky Charles brings us all back with this amazing book. The story of Damien Masterson is cunning, smart and heart wrenching. We all know how the death of this mate sent him to the brink of sanity, we all know how it was those he called family that kept him hanging on. But now he hides behind the whole 'rogue' mystique and on the brink once again. Nicky uses our love for her former hero's like Kane and Elise Sinclair and Reno Smith to build believable scenarios to help Damien regain something of a 'normal' life. She also updates us all on our favourite characters as they are entwined within the storyline. New characters such as Sam Harper and the Chicago pack, Dante and the mysterious Mr Stone keep us all captivated to the last word. Unexpected sub plots will have you saying 'I never saw that coming.' And in some cases will raise your anger to boiling point. A box of tissues is required too as you witness a heartbreaking good-bye. This book is a must for any woman needing a 'girl power' fix. Sam Harper is strong, determined, confident in who she is and the role she has. She's also sexy and cocky and has Damien reeling with confusion as he still grieves for his lost mate. With the back streets of Chicago being the setting, it's a perfect mix for their story. A very easy five stars, you will not be disappointed. It is time and money well spent. It is a story you can read over and over again and along with the other five (The Mating, The Keeping, The finding, Bonded, Betrayed, days of the rogue) they make a great collection for any reading device......
  • For the Good of All on June 09, 2015

Wow! I have so much I want to say about this book. It's darker than Nicky's previous books but boy, it was astounding!! Tackling real life issues well is a huge goal, which Nicky accomplishes in a sensitive manner. This had me mad with rage and crying as Nicky took me from one chapter to the next. When we first meet stone, in Road to Redemption, I, for one didn't like him. I'm sure that was Nicky's intention. But she's good at what she does, she draws you in and then concluds in such a manner that your begging for the next story before you close the book. Congratulations Nicky, you have another winner 💜
  • Deceit Can Be Deadly on Jan. 23, 2017

Another fantastic story from Nick Charles! Her Law of the Lycans world is expanding and it's amazing! I'm loving the introduction of new paranormal types as well as hearing from old favourite characters like Reno, Damien, Sam and Brandi. This story is has plot twist and surprises that will keep you hooked and a few new sexy ass shifters that are swoon worthy!! Congratulations Nicky you've done it again. Now when can we expect Mo.9?
  • Kane: I Am Alpha on Dec. 26, 2017

I couldn’t put it down!! The house could have set on fire! I would not have moved. I fell in love with Kane and Elise many years ago and now to get the story from the alpha himself was amazing. Also getting to read about other favourite characters was a treat. As usual, Nicky Charles does not disappoint in delivering a fantastic story that keeps you hooked to the end! The links to the other books in the series just adds to the Lycan world she has masterfully created. Now I have one problem!! When is the next one due??
  • Wrong Lead, Dream Horse Mystery #3 on Sep. 05, 2018

Wow!! What can I say, another well spun tale from Candace Carrabus. It has you hanging on for the ride straight from the off!! There's great plot twists and edge of your seat action. The romance is well written and flows through the book naturally. It's a great round up of Vi's past as Candace intertwines it within the this new story. I must admit I did need a tissue by the end! I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery, romance or paranormal stories.
  • Veil of Lies on Dec. 11, 2018

I've waited a long time to hear Armand's story and I was not disappointed. Nicky once again pulls the reader into her Lycan world. The intricate web between the different shifters is expertly woven as the focus on the Law of the Lycans is maintained. Armand!! What can I say, he's everything a woman wants! He's strong, sexy as hell but soft and heartbroken. This book certainly pulls on the heart strings. Again, Nicky keeps us up to date with all our favourite characters. Now after finishing I'm left with the need read more!!!
