LS Sygnet

Biography

LS Sygnet was a mastermind of schoolyard schemes as a child who grew into someone who channeled that inner criminal onto the pages of books. Sygnet worked full time in the nursing profession for 29 years before her "semi-retirement" in March 2014.

Devoted to family, friends and dogs in middle age, Sygnet spends most spare time plotting fiction, reading obsessively or playing with her four-legged child - a handsome, very distinguished-looking Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Sygnet currently lives in beautiful Colorado.

Smashwords Interview

What are your five favorite books, and why?
Stephen King's The Dark Half - it's one of the most creative, imaginative and horrifying stories I've ever read and I love feeling terrified!

Anything by Kathy Reichs - she's brilliant, and allows readers to understand the science behind criminal investigations. I think of all her books, Deja Dead and Fatal Voyage are my favorites.

Harvesting the Heart by Jodi Picoult - as someone who has worked in healthcare in psychiatry for decades, this story drew me in instantly. Extremely well written and realistic from beginning to end.

The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd - I don't think I ever cried reading a book before I read this one. It will always be a favorite because of the emotions it evoked while I read it. Really put me into Lily Owens' head.

The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins - science was written beautifully, and Dawkins completely explained why evolution makes our existence so very precious.
What do you read for pleasure?
Seriously? Everything. Even the news. I read a ton of non-fiction, probably more than I read fiction. I love biographies and anything relating to anthropology or science. My library shelves are filled with books about forensic science, ancient Egyptian history, pre-Columbian civilizations, psychological theory, fiction in the mystery and horror genres and stories of true crime. I am also the proud owner of Gary Larson's two volume Complete Far Side, because sometimes a girl needs a good laugh.
