This was a good read and I enjoyed it. I was a little frustrated trying to follow the central premise and real mechanics behind the Heroes system, which I wish had been a little clearer. I felt that robbed the ending of a little of its impact. Overall though an enjoyable story about a good character.
Full disclosure: I know Suzanne and knew she was awesome before I read any of her stuff.
Okay, that said, this story is still great, silly fun. A weird, funny premise and a vary satisfying ending. I've loved all of Suzanne's stuff but this one stands out. Buy it. Read it. I'm going to go read it again now.
I love all of Suzanne's stuff, but this is probably my favorite. I love the tone of the conversation between the characters, the very silly concept and the interesting idea that another civilization could miss us entirely on the first try because of bad assumptions. I also like aliens and polar bears, so, bonus.
(Full disclosure, I know Suzanne. That influenced my purchase of this story, the first time, when I bought it in print, but I swear it doesn't affect my review.)
