A nice little space western that dives straight into the action. With imagery that reminded me of some outposts in Firefly and that of the Old West - and dialogue to match. Great little read.
  • Beyond the Veil on Dec. 27, 2012

An interesting take on purgatory. The action jumps right at you with the first few opening lines, then takes you down an unusual path as our hero battles for what he thinks is freedom from the realm he's been placed in. Short and sweet but full of imagery and humorous dialogue.
  • Questing Beast on Dec. 28, 2012

What a delightful little read this was. A compact little tale, complete with a detailed world and characters with personalities that come out in their dialogue and actions. Their humour had me grinning, as well as the dry wit done just right. The story, unusual but believable with enough tech stuff to keep a sci-fi fan's interest.

The best part of this book was getting to meet Samhain again. Another short and sweet story about my new favourite witch. We get a better glimpse of Sam's past and her story so far along with some exciting incidents as the story unfold. A great little read. I look forward to more.

What a delightful assortment of yummy morsels! Eight amazing shorts stories from eight amazing SFR writers, dishing out tantalizing samplers to whet the appetite. I thoroughly enjoyed each story, and wished these teasers would blossom into full length novels. Each writer's distinctive style shouts out, and their imagination and creativity into moulding a story with few words is brilliant. Some of the writer's I am familiar with, others, I will most definitely be seeking out and reading their stuff. Cheers to you all! And kudos to the SFR Brigade for compiling this incredible anthology!
