WOW. Loved this story, it's pure fantasy but there are quite a few lessons there. It's about a young man that gets sent somewhere he doesn't want to go. He's not too bright and has a lot of trouble but as you continue to read you find he's good hearted. The pictures are great, they put images in your head as you read on.
It's easy to read and a lot of fun.
This book was recommended at another website. I totally agree it is a must read.
Beautifully described events that make you think. I also read it in one sitting as I couldn't put it down.
A lot of feeling went into the writing and I commend the author for her writing skills in bringing these events to light.
Another great book which makes this author a winner with me.
Believable story and totally different from all the other stories I've read from this author.
Nice and easy to read which is what I like and didn't take me that long to read (an afternoon).
Highly recommended if you like vampire books without romance interfering.
I must have been out of the loop for awhile to have missed this. Good story and I can see where the 'abridged' came from. Very good story and different from the authors other works. I look forward, like the other reviewers to the unabridged version. Tough times in London during Victorias' reign.
Great pic of John Pitt in prison too.
The Inspector travels to Bavaria in search of vampires but gets side tracked and has to help the Brotherhood of the sword. The Nazi connection is very emotional which I found also believable (except for the ghosts). I guess its also a love story buried in the past which caused the problems. A few graves being dug up and of course vampires being killed.
I enjoyed every part of this story and thought the pic at the end fitted in perfectly.
I'm a Catholic boy myself and we didn't have any nuns like this when I was at school, but I wish we had.
I think the priest was a victim too.
