Biography
I've been a nurse and midwife all my professional life, and hold a PhD in Midwifery Studies from the University of Sheffield. My last post was Professor (Midwifery) in Hong Kong.
I've published in many professional, peer reviewed journals, and co-edited the ‘Midwifery Practice’ series of textbooks, which are still in use worldwide. Now I'm retired, and I live in France with my husband, in an old farmhouse.
The history of my profession fascinates me. I'm now at work writing the next in the series - 'Margaret' - to tell the story of midwifery and childbirth in 17th century England.
