Jack Barrow

Biography

I'm a novelist working from England with a background in writing about paganism and the occult. The occult is a rich resource for comic fiction with a philosophical style. Readers have made comparisons between my work and that of Douglas Adams.

The Hidden Masters comic novels are my main focus, about three middle aged magicians who drink and smoke too much while saving the world at the weekend. The Hidden Masters and the Unspeakable Evil is the first in a series of four, drawing on references to the earth element so about casinos and gambling and set in the north of England. The second book, drawing on the water element, is in production and will be set in the Welsh borders involving religious cults and the accidental destruction of a book festival.

I enjoyed reading this. It's a lovely example of how a story can be made from just a human situation. Sometimes less really is more.
