  • The Seer's 7 Deadly Fairy Tales, A Compendium, Urban Fantasy on April 26, 2012

I liked this book, though, was a bit confusing at being a compendium. Because it begins with the story of The Seer but it’s abruptly interrupted by sections that explain the world of ExtraOrdinary. While it’s essential information for those who has read All’s Fair in Vanity’s War, for someone who have not already read it yet, those part are a bit boring. But is compensated by the continuation and the promise that you will read more about the characters in All’s Fair in Vanity’s War. Still, attracted me enough to buy All’s Fair in Vanity’s War.

This book had my attention a few months ago. However, the Angels topic didn't attract me a lot, but its turn came on my list of books to read, so I gave it a chance. The plot is already known: a love triangle, but very well thought. From the first chapter, there's a confrontation between the two cousins, Logan and Gage, for Skyla attention. Immediately, I felt an attraction for one of the characters, Logan - not sure why - but talking on Twitter with the author, he won't be a knight in his shining armour in the following books. Situation that intrigued me. I don't like helpless female characters, and Skyla, the main character, didn't change my mind on that. She has a touch of helpless heroine that becomes tedious, with her stubbornness to do things on her own way and be wrong over and over, to the point that Logan and Gage got tired of saving or keep her away of danger. Perhaps, this is the only bad point I found, and I'll have to bear, if I want to keep reading this saga. The writer takes the theme of celestial beings, angels, and handles it very differently to other stories, where generally are benevolent beings. No, here, they're creatures more human, who seek a way to survive other factions of angels and dangerous creatures. As for the secondary characters, I can't say much, because they are only filling people with a history that isn't developed yet; such is the case of Skyla's mother and stepfather. But I suppose for being the first book, that's acceptable. However, after the first chapter, I just could not stop reading. It was a rare case of love-hate. So much I really want to keep reading the saga.
