Biography

Raised in the Midwest, an Air Force wife for twenty years, Marianne developed practical ways to create holiday adventures for her family. She enjoys organizing, upcycling, couponing, crafting, baking and helping her 90+ year-old folks stay out of trouble. For twelve years, she worked as a writer/educator for a non-profit organization and received recognition from a Florida Congressman for her work with teens. She is grateful that God's mercies are new every day.

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was born in Indiana and moved to Maryland in my teen years. I married an Air Force man at 19, and while traveling the globe, we herded three children into adulthood. I discovered I liked to write when I won runner-up in a poem contest in 7th grade. My mom, an English teacher, and my dad, a musician, both encouraged me to try new things, meet new people, explore the things I love. Writing became one of them.
When did you first start writing?
In high school, I had English teachers who encouraged me to write. I graduated Writer's Digest School in 1984 and then continued to develop my writing throughout my college years. In 1994, I wrote a high school character-education curriculum that was implemented nearly county-wide for twelve years. In 2010, I established my blog, Adventures in the Ballpark, where I write about life's adventures.
