Albert Wauquier

Biography

Dr. Albert Wauquier has lived and worked in Belgium, the Netherlands and the USA. He graduated as a teacher, obtained a degree in Education and Psychology, a Masters in Experimental Psychology, a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and is Board certified by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

The study of sleep has been his passion for more than 25 years. His career started with research at Janssen Pharmaceutica, a Johnson and Johnson company in Belgium and was followed by professorship Neurophysiology (Boerhaave Chair), the Netherlands (Leiden) and USA (Neurology department, Medical College of Ohio and Texas Tech University). During his tenure as professor he managed sleep disorder clinics and created sleep disorders centers. Subsequently, he worked for private companies and clinics, establishing sleep centers while consulting with patients. Over his career, he has evaluated thousands of people.

He is proficient in English, Dutch, French, German and Spanish and has a working knowledge of Italian. As a public speaker, he presented more than 180 national and international lectures and participated in speakers’ bureaus.

He now lives in Spain, enjoying life with his wife and friends in an environment of tranquility. His hobbies are outdoor activities and reading. He prefers literature in general, and in particular, psychological drama and thrillers, written by the great storytellers of the contemporary literary world. He also is a member of the Andalusian (British) Writers Group, several of whom are published authors.

He published 237 articles in scientific journals and books, authored or co-authored fourteen books, five on sleep and sleep disorders of which three for the general public. In his younger years he published short stories in Literary magazines.

He now writes fiction, novels and short stories. "The Sleep Clinic" is his first novel, situated in a field he obviously knows inside out.
