Alec Rainey, who is English, after training in cattle management with the 'gauchos' in Argentina, emigrated to Australia in 1966 to work as a jackeroo on a vast cattle station in the Northern Territory, in the Barkly Tableland. They also taught him the art of fashioning stone spearheads and other skills related to survival.He has used extensive notes he took at the time to write this book.
