Alfred Gustave

Biography

Born with an inquisitive mind always looking for the truth, I am now sharing some of what I found. Al Gustave has been designing and creating beautiful works of art for a lifetime. It’s his passion, and you can tell. His dedicated carving studio and office in Vero Beach are filled with everything from chairs, shelving, lamps, exquisite bowls, boxes, jewelry and sculpted vases to any kind of woodworking tool an aspiring craftsman might dream of owning or using. Sixty eight years of training, experience and skill visibly honed into a man’s passion for creating art from often exotic wood foraged, turned and traded with his fellow craftsmen. Creating with his hands and thinking in three dimensions has been the cornerstone of Al’s passionate career. Growing up in Long Beach, California in the 1940’s and 50s, Al has spent a lifetime becoming a ‘Master’ of his craft. “Over the years, through experience, you learn you can make anything with wood as your medium. You know how to use all the tools and you learn all the disciplines of all the various parts of woodworking,” shares Al.
